BIOGRAPHY
Trystan Lewis - Musical Director
Trystan Lewis has been involved with music, and particularly choirs, for most of his life.
He conducted Pantycelyn choir to two national wins whilst an undergraduate at the University of Wales
at Aberystwyth. He was appointed Musical Director of the Maelgwn Male Voice Choir at 22 years of age and they have won the Sealink competition, the National Eisteddfod twice and were finalists in the
BBC Choir Competition. Whilst at Aberystwyth he was organist of the Tabernacle, and is an organist at St John’s Llandudno and Bethel and Peniel, Deganwy. He has conducted over 200 Cymanfaoedd Canu
singing festivals, including Canada and the North American Festival, as well as on television and radio.
He is a busy bass-baritone. He sang with the Llanelli Choral Society in 2009 and was been invited again in 2010. He is also a regular soloist at the St. John’s concerts in Llandudno and he won the Open Welsh Solo at the National Eisteddfod in Bala in 2009. He is an adjudicator as well being Musical Director of Côr Cymysg Dyffryn Conwy, which he founded, and has conducted in performances with the North Wales Philharmonia Orchestra. His most recent appointment is Musical Director of the
Mold Choral Society. He gained an M.Mus. degree from Liverpool University in 2009 in Voice Technique and Harmony and Counterpoint.
